Honoring the Ancestors (先祖供養 Senzo-kuyō)

Ancestors are the original spirits who were first descended from Heaven when this world was created. They are also the beings who guide and protect us.

In Tendo, we can offer Honoring the Ancestors to those who sent us into this world, bringing them salvation.

What we call Honoring the Ancestors is to pay respect to our ancestors, who no longer have physical bodies, and to serve them with true sincerity.

Honoring the Ancestors is a virtuous practice essential for us to obtain health and happiness. 

The Human Path begins with being born as a human being, as well as to save and give thanks to our ancestors. We live together with our ancestors.

If we, their descendants, continue to act in bad ways, our ancestors suffer, and that suffering falls upon us in the form of accidents, illness, and various misfortunes. On the other hand, when we accumulate virtue for the sake of the world and for others, and practice true Honoring the Ancestors, our ancestors give us many blessings.
